Get Your Head on Straight
The vertical (upward) thrust of the cervical spine (neck) is crucial for a the upper body and head, neck, and shoulders to be pain free. Since the nutritional needs of the head, brain, and sense organs travel through carotid and vertebral artery of the neck, alignment of the neck is essential for unobstructed circulation.
In this class we will address habitual patterns that displace the head sharply forward and practice yoga poses that balance and relieve pain in the neck muscles - since these muscles balance the head. We will also practice yoga poses that encourage the alignment of the shoulder girdle that includes the thoracic spine, shoulder blades, shoulder joint, arms, elbows, writs, fingers, collar bones, ribs, and sternum to remove tension and relieve tightness in the shoulders and arms.
